The generic OBD II / EOBD software allows auto service technicians to retrieve government mandated emission-related vehicle information using Star system for all 1996 or newer vehicles in the US (On-Board Diagnostics Generation II or OBD II) and for all 2000 or newer vehicles in Europe (European On-Board Diagnostics or simply EOBD). The generic OBD II software complies with all mandated communication protocols, such as SAE J1850 (PWM, VPW), ISO 9141-2, ISO 14230-4 (Keyword 2000) and ISO 15765-4 (CAN). Specific functions includes:

• Retrieve emission-related diagnostic trouble codes (Mode $03)
• Clear/ reset emission-related diagnostic Information (Mode $04)
• Retrieve real-time data stream (Mode $01)
• Retrieve pending emission-related DTC(s) (Mode $07)
• Retrieve powertrain freeze frame data (Mode $02)
• Request oxygen sensor monitoring test results (Mode $05)
• Request on-board monitoring test results for specific monitored systems (Mode $06)
• Request vehicle information (Mode $09)
