Check Pressure and Flow in Air Mode, Then Trace the Leak With Smoke
The SDT206 uses two built-in pumps for separate Air and Smoke modes, so no external air source is needed. Watch line pressure and airflow, adjust delivery, then fill the sealed section with smoke to find the escape point. For permitted low-pressure tests only; it cannot pressure-test an A/C system.
- Dual Built-In Pumps
- Air + Smoke Modes
- <18 psi / <6 L/min
- Smoke in About 5 s
- 12 V DC
Key Features
-
Separate Air and Smoke Modes
Independent switches let you run Air Mode for pressure and airflow checks, then switch to Smoke Mode for visual leak location.
-
Pressure Gauge Monitoring
Watch line pressure; a steadily falling reading points to a leak that needs further inspection.
-
Flow Meter and Control Valve
Monitor airflow through the connected line and adjust it to suit the test setup.
-
Fast Smoke Fill
Smoke starts quickly, and a test line can fill in about 30 seconds depending on system volume.
-
Oil-Level Gauge and Drain
See the testing-oil volume at a glance and drain excess oil through the outlet.
-
Low-Pressure Vehicle Systems
EVAP and fuel tank, intake and exhaust, crankcase, seals, line fittings and low-pressure turbo paths, using an adapter that matches the opening.
-
Portable Body
Handle and hook make the unit easy to carry, hang and position near the test area.

How to Use
- Add testing oilFill 10โ15 mL of baby oil or liquid paraffin; never more than 15 mL at one time.
- Connect the test lineDisconnect the line to be tested and connect it to the smoke output hose, with the detector near the test area.
- Connect 12 V powerClamp onto a 12 V DC battery and switch the detector on.
- Choose Air or Smoke ModeUse Air Mode to watch pressure and airflow, then Smoke Mode to fill the line.
- Locate the leakLook for escaping smoke, using a headlamp for small leaks.
- Confirm and retestCheck the escape path against the system layout, repair it and repeat the same controlled test.

Good to Know
Caution
- Not for direct A/C pressure testing or high-pressure boost testing; A/C systems run far above the detector’s output.
- Run no longer than 8 minutes continuously, and let the unit cool before restarting after overheat shutdown.
- The metal housing gets hot during use; avoid touching it.
- Never refill testing oil while the detector is running, and do not overfill.
- Testing oil is not included.
- Follow the vehicle or component procedure before introducing smoke into any system.
Care
- Refill only when the smoke becomes thin, and drain the remaining oil before adding fresh oil.
- If no smoke appears, recheck isolation, valve state, flow and the test setup before moving on.
