I’ve used this unit daily for two weeks at my BMW dealership. It performs flawlessly for battery charging and holding stable voltage during ECU programming. Though the unit is sizable, it’s lightweight and easy to transport or mount anywhere in the shop. What’s more, its cooling fans don’t run overly loud, making it perfectly suitable for workshop use.

Good to Know

Caution
  • Lithium batteries are not supported. EFB charging and Battery Restoration require the battery to be removed from the vehicle.
  • Peak output lasts about 3 minutes before thermal limiting; confirm the mode, voltage and available current cover the full programming event.
  • Connect clamps with correct polarity on clean, secure terminals before enabling output.
Care
  • Use in a dry, ventilated location with the vents clear.
  • When charging ends, stop charging before removing the clamps.

FAQ

Does the EM365 program the ECU itself?

No. It supplies power during programming; use separate programming or diagnostic equipment for the ECU work.

Why use programming mode instead of charging?

Programming mode holds the support voltage you choose; charging mode changes output as the battery charges.

Which programming voltage should I select?

The voltage given in the vehicle procedure. Fixed Mode suits jobs that call for 14 V.

Main purpose of me purchasing this is for live flash coding and programming for European vehicles. It has a total of 4 features. I did not use the voltage stabilizee function yet but i think it will be capable, it has a battery repair mode which works as long as your battery voltage is not too low otherwise it will not detect it. I have smaller chargers that detects low voltage batteries. I found out in order to be able to make it detect it is by using its jumpstart function until the amperage reaches 4amp then switch back to repair mode or charging mode and it will work. Note that some batteries cannot be recovered no matter what you do and this device is not to blame for it. It is quite easy to use, seems like a strong and solid build seriously and the colored screen is nice. I will update the flash programming feature when i test it.

I’ve been using the AUTOOL EM365 for a couple of weeks now, and honestly, it’s become one of my favorite tools. I mainly use it for ECU programming and battery maintenance, and it hasn’t let me down once. The voltage is super stable during programming, which gives me a lot of confidence when working on more sensitive jobs. The charging function is also smart — it adjusts automatically and doesn’t overheat the battery. I even tested the 400A start function on a dead car battery and it worked like a charm.
