I purchased the EM385 to replace my old power supply for ECU programming and showroom vehicle display mode. So far it has performed flawlessly. Programming power mode holds rock‑stable voltage even under high load. The forced‑start 400A function helps me for quick engine start‑up after module coding. I also like the adjustable separate DC power supply, it comes handy when testing various automotive electrical accessories. Cables feel heavy‑duty pure copper, cooling fan keeps the unit from overheating during continuous operation. Operation is straightforward via touchscreen. The printed manual is clear and easy to follow. Worth every dollar for workshop daily use.

Very rugged and solid power supply. I use it mainly for bench flashing and key programming on the bench. The DC output is clean with no dangerous voltage spikes.

Must-have for ODIS diagnostics and long adaptations.

If you are using ODIS for long diagnostic sessions or adapting dual-clutch transmissions, you absolutely need a power supply. I was looking at a Midtronics unit but couldn’t justify the crazy cost. The EM385 handles everything I throw at it perfectly. The digital display is bright, clear, and updates the amperage draw in real-time so you know exactly what the car is doing. Highly recommended for independent shops.

Stable Programming Power, Battery Charging and Adjustable DC Output in One Unit

The AUTOOL EM385 supports 12 V vehicle ECU programming with a set support voltage, charges lead-acid and lithium batteries, restores long-idle lead-acid batteries and powers showroom vehicles, all selected from a 4.3-inch touchscreen. It supplies power only; the ECU work itself needs separate programming equipment.

  • 9–16 V or Fixed 14 V
  • Up to 150 A for ~3 Min
  • LFP / NCM Charging
  • 400 A Momentary Start
  • 4.3-Inch Touchscreen

Key Features

  1. Programming Power With Live Readings

Choose Adjustable Mode for 9–16 V or Fixed Mode for 14 V and follow output voltage and current on screen throughout the procedure.

  2. Lead-Acid Charging by Battery Type

Select in-car or external charging and the battery type: standard lead-acid, AGM flat plate, AGM spiral or GEL; EFB uses external charging. The display shows voltage, current, progress and completion.

  3. Lithium Charging

A dedicated option for LFP (LiFePO4) and NCM batteries, with the battery removed from the vehicle.

  4. Separate Adjustable Power Supply

Set both voltage and current for compatible electrical equipment, independent of programming mode.

  5. Vehicle Display Mode

Maintains a float charge and raises output when battery discharge is detected, for showroom and display work.

  6. Forced Start and Battery Restoration

Momentary starting support with on-screen prompts, plus a restoration treatment for discharged or long-idle lead-acid batteries; results depend on battery condition and sulfation.

  7. Touch or Button Control

Use the touchscreen or the physical arrow and OK keys; brightness and interface language are adjustable.

Good to Know

Caution
  • EFB charging, lithium charging and Battery Restoration all require the battery to be removed from the vehicle.
  • Order the 110 V or 220 V version that matches your local power.
  • Confirm that the selected mode, voltage and available output cover the full programming event before starting.
Care
  • Use the unit in a dry, ventilated location with the vents clear.
  • Connect clamps on clean, secure terminals with correct polarity; stop output or charging before removing them.

FAQ

Does EM385 program the ECU itself?

No. It supplies battery power support during programming; the ECU work is done with separate programming or diagnostic equipment.

How long is the maximum 150 A output available?

About 3 minutes in programming mode. At an internal temperature of 70 °C the maximum current drops to 50 A and returns once the unit cools to 50 °C.

Is the Adjustable Power Supply the same as programming mode?

No. It is a separate option under Fast Charging. Output above 1200 W for 3 minutes, or an internal temperature of 70 °C, limits current to 50 A until the unit cools below 50 °C.

This tool is better than most of the programming on the market, it’s very compact, it provides a very stable power supply, I sometimes have to do several hours of good diagnostic work and it’s all stable and has helped me tremendously!

Great product. AAA++

The device works well and I would consider purchasing the diagnostic cart if I could!

This is what a good programming power supply should look like

I bought it because it supports lithium batteries! Multi-stage smart charging mode allows you to charge optimally. It makes me happy that it can provide me with a stable power supply when I do ECU programming. I will continue to see how it works. And come back with feedback on the results

Nice

I’ve been using it for a while now and I can genuinely say—it’s a good power inverter. It supports both Lithium Iron Phosphate and Nickel Cobalt Manganese Lithium batteries, which is a huge plus for me. I had trouble with compatibility on older chargers, but this one just works flawlessly. What I love most is the adjustable output. Being able to fine-tune the voltage and current gives me so much more control, and the multi-stage smart charging mode ensures my batteries are charged efficiently without overheating or overcharging. The Vehicle Display Mode is another great feature—it keeps power running without interruptions and even auto-restarts if power is lost. That’s been incredibly helpful when powering diagnostic tools in the garage. The 4.3-inch touchscreen is clear and responsive, and the adjustable brightness is a thoughtful touch—especially useful in different lighting environments. Also, the build quality is top-notch. The 2-meter pure copper cable feels premium and reliable, and the IP21S protection rating gives me peace of mind when using it in various settings. Overall, this is one of the smartest and most well-built chargers I’ve used. Highly recommend it to anyone who values safety, flexibility, and quality in their tools!

Good

I have an EM365, which I bought three years ago. It’s time to change to a new version. The EM385 is beyond my expectation. It’s perfect. In addition to the increased functions, the quality is also very good. Worth buying!!!
