Paid for itself

As soon as I purchased the Launch I put it to use. I was doing a brake job and used it to release these new ebrakes. Worked perfectly and saved me a bunch of time. It has so many functions!! I will be learning new things with this Thinkscan 689 each time I use it! It’s very sturdy, connects fast, and I love the warning it gives to remind you not to leave it in the vehicle when you’re done!! Can’t tell you how many times I have left or almost left one of these scanners in a car! Overall all, GREAT product! And sooo many functions. This will be the first tool used when I start a diagnostic check!!!!

Pricey, But Worth It, So Far

Yeah, this scanner isn’t exactly pocket change, but it better be built like a tank for the price. Out of the box, it feels solid and has all the bells and whistles you’d expect, 34 reset services, bidirectional control, ECU coding, the works. I’m impressed so far, but let me tell you, if it gives out on me, you’ll hear me screeching like a squirrel that just lost its stash. No updates from me? That means it’s holding up just fine, so go ahead and give it a shot if you’re looking for something serious.

The THINKSCAN 689 is an 8-inch Android scan tool for full-system diagnostics, ECU coding, bi-directional control and maintenance resets, with CAN FD, DoIP and AutoAuth access for FCA secure gateways.

Key Features

  1. Full-System Diagnostics

    Retrieve ECU information, read and erase codes and view live data across systems such as engine, transmission, airbags, ABS, steering angle, tire pressure, body and air conditioning.

  2. Coding After Module Replacement

    Match, learn and code a replaced ECU or module so it works normally, including Programmable Module Installation (PMI) mainly for Ford models.

  3. Personalize Vehicle Functions

    Turn certain features on or off, for example how long the interior light stays on after closing the door on a Ford Focus, or daytime running lights and seat belt alarm settings. Settings can also be restored to default.

  4. Aftermarket Installation

    Code new parts added to an older vehicle, such as a retrofit TPMS kit.

  5. Bi-Directional Active Tests

    Command relays, coils, injectors and actuators directly to check them without using the vehicle’s own controls, for example cooling fan, injector buzz, EVAP, windows, wipers, sunroof, door lock and headlamp tests.

  6. Maintenance Services

    Includes oil maintenance reset, DPF regeneration, ABS bleeding, battery matching, injector coding, steering angle reset, TPMS reset, electric throttle relearn, EGR adaption and AdBlue reset.

  7. Newer Protocols and Secure Gateways

    CAN FD and DoIP support for newer vehicles, and built-in AutoAuth registration so FCA vehicles with a secure gateway can have codes cleared, active tests and relearns performed.

  8. Expandable with Accessories

    Works with THINKTPMS VENU iPro or THINKTPMS G2, an endoscope, an oscilloscope, a printer and a Bluetooth battery clip.

The basic 689 does NOT come with or is available for this basic unit. i just found that out. i can live without it. for 450 its ok. the Pro unit does have it for 800 Nah i dont need it that bad.
