Low-Pressure EVAP Smoke Testing on Shop Air, With Visible Flow
The SDT103 takes air from a shop supply, delivers smoke at a fixed low EVAP output and shows airflow on a meter so you can adjust delivery for each line. It has no built-in pump: an external air source and a 12 V battery are required, and testing oil is not included.
- 3.2 kPa / 0.46 psi Output
- Flow Meter + Regulator
- External Air Input
- About 5 s Smoke
- Airbag Adapter
Hauptmerkmale
-
Fixed Low EVAP Output
Incoming air is regulated to a fixed output, reducing the risk of excessive pressure on EVAP lines; the compressor’s supply pressure is not what reaches the test line.
-
Visual Flow Meter
The meter shows current airflow so you can adjust smoke output and protect the system under test.
-
Adjustable Smoke Flow
The airflow regulator changes flow for different test lines; it does not change test pressure.
-
Airbag Adapter Sealing
The intake airbag adapter helps seal test ports and openings during leak checks.
-
Engine, Line and Sealing Checks
Beyond EVAP, trace leaks in intake, exhaust, throttle, intercooler, crankcase, oil seals, line fittings and fuel tanks, plus valves that do not close fully.
-
Grouped Controls
Handle, flow meter, smoke switch, power socket, air inlet and smoke outlet sit together for quick setup.

Anwendung
- Add testing oilFill the detector before first use without overfilling.
- Connect the test lineDisconnect the line to be tested and connect it to the smoke hose or a matching adapter.
- Connect airAttach shop air or a compressor to the air source interface.
- Connect powerClamp onto a 12 V DC vehicle battery and turn on the power switch.
- Start smokeOpen the airflow regulator gently from near minimum, switch on smoke and watch the flow meter.
- Locate leaksLet the line fill with smoke and inspect for escaping smoke, using a light if needed.
- Confirm and retestCheck the escape path against the system layout, repair the leak and repeat the same test.

Good to Know
Caution
- Requires shop air or an external compressor and a 12 V battery; there is no built-in pump.
- Use only on low-pressure systems where the service procedure permits smoke testing; never as a direct high-pressure A/C pressure tester.
- Do not run continuously for more than 8 minutes; overheat protection cuts power above 75°C, so let the unit cool before restarting.
- Never refill testing oil while the unit is running; drain excess oil before operation if overfilled.
- The round metal housing gets hot during use; avoid touching it.
Care
- Refill only when the smoke becomes thin: pour out the old oil first and add no more than 15 mL at a time.
