Compare Vent and Fan Airflow With Repeatable Readings
The TR401 measures local air speed and air temperature at its vane for A/C vents, ventilation systems, fans and outdoor or marine spot checks. It reads speed at one point; it does not calculate duct volume or CFM.

Hauptmerkmale
-
Vane Air-Speed Sensing
The wind wheel samples local air speed and temperature for vent, fan and outdoor checks.
-
Quick Unit Switching
Press the Unit key to cycle m/s, mph, km/h, ft/min and knots; long-press it to change between °C and °F.
-
Max, Min and Data Hold
Switch among real-time, Max and Min modes, and lock the current reading for recording.
-
Backlit Display
Shows air speed, temperature, units and function indicators; the backlight toggles from the power key for dim vents and workshops.
-
Beaufort and Wind-Chill Indication
Displays the Beaufort force level beside the reading and a wind-chill warning in cold, high-wind conditions.
-
Automatic Power-Off
Turns off after about five minutes without key input; the user manual describes the key combination to disable it.

Anwendung
- Define the comparisonFix the vent or point, measurement position, units, blower or fan setting, vehicle state and ambient condition.
- Prepare the meterInstall the batteries, power on, select units and choose live, Max or Min mode.
- Align the wind wheelFace the vane into the airflow without blocking the opening or changing its distance and angle between readings.
- Stabilize and recordLet the value settle, use Hold if needed, and note speed, temperature, location, time and operating conditions.
- Repeat before concludingCompare several readings under the same conditions before using them in an A/C or ventilation procedure.

Good to Know
Caution
- Measures air speed and temperature only, not humidity, pressure, refrigerant leaks, sound or light.
- Outlet speed and temperature can document a symptom but cannot diagnose refrigerant charge, compressor, controls, doors or leaks.
- Do not use or store the meter in flammable, explosive, high-temperature or high-humidity environments.
Care
- Keep the wind wheel clean and unobstructed; do not force or strike it.
- Keep the meter away from strong electromagnetic radiation to reduce interference.
- Replace the batteries when the low-battery icon appears and remove them for long-term storage.
- Clean the exterior with a neutral agent; avoid corrosive chemicals.
