I have a newer car with a few electrical problems. So far I am using this just to clear the codes and the check engine lights after some battery issues so I haven't quite used all of the features yet. To be honest, this has so many things to do I really need to look over the manual so I don't mess something up in my engine. I'm not super thrilled that you need to connect wifi and an account but I know it's pretty essential for updates and such. Ive used a cheap obd computer and the cords always seem so short. This computer has long cords so you can sit comfortably and not have to be under the dash.

This tool has been a great addition to my garage, and has already paid for itself over a couple of months.The unit is fairly intuitive, and reads the information easily and quickly.I've used it to read raw data to troubleshoot issues that don't throw out a code.We recently got a used 2016 4Runner with only one key, and discovered that this tool can program transponder keys, saving us almost $500 vs. the dealer.I don't know if I will re-subscribe after the initial subscription ends - I've heard you don't need to renew, you just won't get updates.I've used it on a 2023 Porsche Macan, 2003 Tacoma, 2014 Civic,2016 4Runner and 2025 Tacoma with no issues.

In one word, it's "fantastic". Must-own device/tool for DIY work.

The tablet is great, the only weird thing is it keeps saying i need VCI for certain stuff when the tablet has a wired connection and no option for VCI.

I’ve only had this scanner a short time and it’s already helping me make my money back. It’s super easy to use, fast, and works on a wide range of vehicles which is perfect for what I need. The active tests and service functions give me way more control when diagnosing issues. It feels like a professional tool but still simple enough to learn quickly. Definitely a great investment if you’re doing your own work or starting out.

As a DIYer who mostly sticks to mechanical repairs like brakes, suspension, spark plugs, alternator, etc. on my Toyotas, I haven't needed intense electrical diagnostics yet, but with my cars getting older, I wanted something robust. This Autel should definitely get the job done.The hardware itself feels like a relic in some ways, particularly the use of a Mini-USB B charging port. It feels like this casing hasn't been updated in twenty years, and as someone trying to consolidate everything to USB-C, being forced back to a connector that predates even Micro-USB is a major annoyance.The setup was easy enough but took an eternity because of the sheer volume of updates required out of the box. Once you get past that hurdle, the performance is a mixed bag. While the live data streams are very responsive and fast, the actual interface feels like a computer from 2006. Navigating menus and connecting to the vehicle involves a lot of waiting for screens to load, which feels clunky compared to a modern smartphone. However, since I haven't used other scanners, this might actually be considered quick for the industry.On the bright side, the screen is decent and the body is rugged and grippy enough to survive being dropped in a garage. Trying to decipher the Autel product lineup is an absolute nightmare because of how confusing the differences between models are, but the hardware and software are undeniably reliable. If you can actually figure out which version you need, you will likely be happy with the purchase.
