Check Pressure with Air, Then Trace the Leak with Smoke
The SML310 runs an air-only stage so you can watch the gauge on the connected test volume, then switches to smoke to show the escape path. Its built-in pump runs from a 12 V supply, so no shop air is needed. Set test pressure from the vehicle or component procedure.

Key Features
-
Separate Air and Smoke Modes
Use the air stage to observe pressure behavior, then switch to smoke for visual localization.
-
Built-In Air Pump
The internal pump supplies the test airflow, so routine setup does not need a separate compressor.
-
Pressure Gauge Feedback
Watch the reading while the test volume fills, then use smoke to inspect an unstable or falling reading.
-
Fast Smoke Start
Smoke starts in about five seconds once the prepared system is connected and the mode is activated.
-
Temperature Protection
Operation stops when the unit reaches its protection condition; let it cool before further use.
How to Use
- Confirm the procedureIdentify the target system, permitted pressure, access point, valve state and openings to seal.
- Prepare the machineInspect the power lead, hose and adapters, and add or confirm only the smoke oil the manual specifies.
- Connect and isolateMake a leak-free connection with the correct adapter and isolate normal escape paths per the vehicle procedure.
- Run Air ModeObserve the pressure gauge under the selected test conditions.
- Inspect with smokeSwitch to Smoke Mode, let the volume fill and check joints, hoses and seals for escaping smoke.
- Repair and retestRepair the confirmed leak, repeat the same test and continue diagnosis if the result is inconclusive.

Good to Know
Caution
- The machine’s output rating is not a safe pressure for every system; use the OEM procedure and the lowest appropriate setting, especially on EVAP systems.
- Use only the smoke fluid the manual specifies; never water, viscous or corrosive liquids.
- Work in a dry, ventilated area away from flame and heat, wear eye and hand protection, and keep smoke away from sensitive electronic parts.
- Do not operate with damaged power leads, hoses or adapters; clean an opening before inserting an inflatable plug so sharp edges do not puncture it.
Care
- Connect to a stable vehicle-battery supply.
- Package contents can vary by order; confirm the included accessories before checkout.
FAQ
What if no smoke is visible?
Verify smoke delivery, access, isolation, adapter sealing and valve state, then continue with functional diagnosis; blockages, intermittent and non-leak faults may not produce visible smoke.
Does a visible leak guarantee the whole repair?
It identifies an area to inspect and confirm. Repair the verified problem, repeat the test and complete any required vehicle checks.
