Battery, Starting and Charging Checks With Loaded-Voltage Observation
The BT460 tests 12 V and 24 V lead-acid starting batteries, the cranking and charging systems, and battery voltage under the vehicle’s own electrical loads. It is a tester only: it does not charge batteries or test lithium batteries.
- 12 V / 24 V Lead-Acid
- 30–2000 CCA
- Max Load Test
- Reverse Polarity Protection
Hauptmerkmale
-
Battery Health Test
Analyzes state of health, state of charge, internal resistance, voltage, cold cranking ability and aging to help decide whether to service or replace the battery.
-
Cranking Test
Evaluates the starter through cranking voltage and current while you follow the on-screen start prompt.
-
Ladesystemtest
Checks generator output, rectifier and diode behavior and charging voltage to flag overcharge or undercharge.
-
Max Load Test
Shows battery voltage with the vehicle’s electrical appliances switched on. It uses the vehicle’s loads and is not a resistive high-current load test.
-
Selectable Rating Standards
CCA 30–2000, IEC 30–2500, EN 30–3000, DIN 30–2500, JIS 26A17R–N135 and GB 30–300AH; select the standard on the battery label.

Data Review
The Review menu shows saved or recent test results where the current software supports it.

Good to Know
Caution
- For lead-acid batteries only; the BT960 is the model for lithium batteries.
- A deeply discharged battery may need charging with separate equipment before the tester can give a reliable result.
- If the engine is running or voltage is too high at the wrong test stage, stop the engine and follow the on-screen prompt.
Care
- CCA, SOC and health values are algorithm-based screening indicators, not controlled amp-hour measurements; repeat unexpected results after checking terminal contact and charge.
- Do not disassemble or immerse the tester, or bend and over-stretch the cables.
- New and old versions ship during transition; appearance, button layout and packaging may differ.
