Trace Low-Pressure Leaks With Smoke and a Pressure Gauge
The SDT60 runs from a 12 V battery, uses its built-in pump instead of shop air, and pairs visible smoke with a pressure gauge for EVAP, intake, exhaust, fuel-tank and line-fitting checks on 12 V cars, motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, light trucks and speedboats.

Hauptmerkmale
-
Gauge-Guided Leak Checks
Watch pressure changes in the test path to judge whether there is no obvious leak, a small leak or a more severe one, then follow the smoke to the source.
-
Fast Smoke Fill
Smoke starts within about 5 seconds of pressing the smoke switch, and the connected line fills in about 30 seconds.
-
No External Air Needed
The built-in pump supplies the test airflow, keeping setup simple in the workshop, on mobile jobs or at home.
-
Engine and Body Coverage
Works as an intake and engine smoke tester across intake manifold, throttle, crankcase and oil seals, and also checks exhaust, EVAP, fuel tank, intercooler air, coolant tank, line fittings and vehicle sealing.
-
Compact and Portable
The 1.6 kg unit is easy to carry and store, and hangs on its hook in tight engine bays.
-
Heat and Cold Protection
Shuts off automatically at about 75°C and operates down to -20°C.

Anwendung
- Add testing oilFill 10–15 mL of baby oil or liquid paraffin; do not overfill.
- Connect the test lineDisconnect the line to be tested and connect it to the smoke output hose, with the detector near the test area.
- Power onClamp to a 12 V DC battery, confirm the hose connections are secure, and switch on.
- Check for leaksOnce the line fills with smoke, look for escaping smoke and watch the gauge; use a headlamp if needed.
- Confirm and retestCheck that the outlet is not an intentional opening, repair the verified leak, and repeat the same test.

Good to Know
Caution
- Do not run the unit continuously for more than 8 minutes; let it rest between tests. If it shuts off from overheating, let it cool before restarting.
- The round metal housing gets hot in use; avoid touching it directly.
- Never refill testing oil while the unit is running.
- Stay within the pressure allowed by the vehicle or component service procedure. The gauge monitors the test; it is not used to set or raise pressure.
- Testing oil may not be included; check your package and use liquid paraffin or baby oil if it is not.
Care
- When refilling, pour out the remaining oil first and add about 10 mL of fresh testing oil.
- If no smoke appears, recheck access, isolation, valve state and smoke delivery before moving to functional diagnosis or another test method.
