Smoke Leak Testing With Pressure and Flow Feedback, No Shop Air Needed
The SDT203’s built-in pump supplies the test air while a pressure gauge and flow meter show how the sealed line responds; then follow the escaping smoke to the leak. It runs from a 12 V vehicle battery, and testing oil is not included.
- Built-In Air Pump
- Pressure Gauge + Flow Meter
- Flow Adjustment Knob
- 23 Intake Adapters
- About 5 s Smoke
Hauptmerkmale
-
Pressure Gauge
Shows whether the test line holds pressure: stable or rising pressure suggests a good seal, falling pressure may indicate a leak.
-
Flow Meter and Knob
Watch airflow changes during the test and adjust output for each line; the knob controls flow, not pressure.
-
Built-In Air Pump
No compressor or shop air is needed to run a test.
-
EVAP and Fuel Tank Checks
Test EVAP systems and fuel tanks with adapters that match the vehicle test port.
-
Intake, Exhaust and Sealing Checks
Find leaks in intake and exhaust systems, engine and body sealing areas, and line fittings where smoke escapes.
-
Hook Mounting
The compact body hangs from its hook near the test area and stores easily.

Anwendung
- Add testing oilFill through the oil refill port; drain some out if overfilled.
- Mount and open airflowFit the hook, position the unit near the test area and gently open the flow control valve.
- Connect the smoke hoseWith the ignition off, connect the hose between the smoke outlet and the line under test.
- Connect powerRed clamp to positive (+), black clamp to negative (−) on a fully charged 12 V battery.
- Generate smokePress the Smoke Mode switch, let the line fill and inspect for escaping smoke; after stopping, let the unit purge residual smoke.
- Confirm and retestCheck the escape path against the system layout, repair the leak and repeat the same test.

Good to Know
Caution
- Low-pressure tester: it cannot pressure-test an automotive A/C system; use smoke only as an indirect aid on an isolated A/C line section when the service procedure permits.
- Do not run continuously for more than 8 minutes; let the unit cool before restarting.
- Never refill testing oil while running, and do not use water or sticky liquids as testing oil.
- Keep smoke away from headlights and any component where smoke testing is not permitted.
- Keep the unit away from water and liquids, and avoid touching the metal housing when hot.
Care
- Refill only when the smoke becomes thin: drain the old oil first and add no more than 15 mL at a time.
