Check Brake Fluid by Its Actual Boiling Point
The AS506 heats a 40–50 ml sample of brake fluid and reports its boiling point for comparison with the reference for the fluid in use. It runs from a 12 V vehicle battery and needs no disposable test strips.

Good to Know
Caution
- Never run a test without enough fluid; heating an empty test rod can damage it.
- The test rod and fluid are hot after testing. Do not touch them directly.
- Do not pour tested fluid back into the reservoir; boiling changes its structure.
- Do not reverse the clamps or short them against the vehicle. Working voltage is 12 V, minimum 10 V.
- Wear goggles and avoid splashing brake fluid. For brake fluid only, and for use by trained technicians.
Care
- After each test, empty the beaker and run a test with about 50 ml of water to clean the rod.
- Before long storage, run a water test to remove corrosive residue, then let the heating rod dry at room temperature.
- Quick check: water should read about 100 °C / 212 °F ±3%. For stricter calibration, the unit must go back to the factory.
