Pressure-Check With Air, Then Trace Leaks With Adjustable Smoke
The SML330 uses its built-in pump to run an air-only pressure check, then switches to smoke so you can see where a sealed intake, EVAP or other line system escapes. A knob sets smoke delivery to suit the size of the test volume.

Hauptmerkmale
-
Air and Smoke Modes
Use Air Mode for pressure and flow checks, then switch to Smoke Mode for visual leak location.
-
No Shop Air Needed
The internal pump supplies test airflow, so routine setup does not need a separate compressor.
-
Pressure Gauge Feedback
Watch the pressure while the connected volume fills, then use smoke to inspect an unstable or falling reading.
-
Adjustable Smoke Flow
Turn the flow knob gradually to match smoke delivery to the sealed test volume.
-
Temperature Protection
Operation stops when the unit reaches its protection temperature; let it cool before further use.
Anwendung
- Confirm the procedureIdentify the target system, permitted pressure, access point, valve states and openings to seal.
- Prepare the machineInspect the power lead, hose and adapters, and add or confirm only the smoke oil the manual specifies.
- Connect and isolateMake a leak-free connection with the correct adapter and isolate normal escape paths per the vehicle procedure.
- Run Air ModeObserve the pressure gauge under the selected test conditions.
- Inspect with smokeSwitch to Smoke Mode, let the volume fill and check joints, hoses and seals for escaping smoke.
- Repair and retestFix the confirmed escape path and repeat the same controlled test.

Good to Know
Caution
- The machine rating is not a target for every system. Set pressure from the OEM or component procedure and use the lowest appropriate setting, especially on EVAP systems.
- Connect to a stable DC 12 V / 5 A supply; do not connect shop air to an unspecified port.
- Work in a dry, ventilated area away from flames and heat, wear eye and hand protection, and do not aim smoke at sensitive or precision electronics.
- Use only the approved smoke machine fluid; never water, viscous or corrosive liquids.
- Included accessories vary by order; confirm the power lead, hose, adapters, sealing tools and oil bottle before checkout.
Care
- Do not operate with damaged power leads, hoses or adapters.
- Clean an opening before inserting an inflatable plug so sharp edges do not puncture it.
FAQ
What does Air Mode tell me?
Pressure behavior under the sealed test setup, which guides the next inspection step.
What if no smoke is visible?
Verify smoke delivery, access, isolation, adapter sealing and valve state, then continue with functional diagnosis; blockage, intermittent or non-leak faults may not produce visible smoke.
Does a visible leak guarantee the entire repair?
No. It identifies an area to inspect and confirm. Repair the verified problem, repeat the test and complete any required vehicle checks.
