Set the Pressure-Hold Test, Then Find the Leak With Smoke
On the SML500 you set the target pressure, hold time and allowed leakage, follow live pressure and the countdown on the touchscreen, then switch to smoke to trace the escape path. Confirm the power and air connection for your regional version.

Hauptmerkmale
-
Configurable Pressure-Hold Test
Set target pressure, test duration and permitted pressure loss for the approved procedure, and the screen compares the measured change against them.
-
Smoke Leak Tracing
After a pressure-loss result, fill the system with tracer smoke to inspect accessible joints, hoses and seals.
-
Touchscreen Control
Settings, live pressure, countdown and the result share one color interface.
-
Recent Result History
Review the five most recent result sets when repeating a check or comparing before and after repair.
-
Oil-Water Separator
Conditions the connected air supply and collects moisture for draining before it reaches the test circuit.
-
Overheat Protection
Operation stops when the unit reaches its protection temperature; let it cool before continuing.
Anwendung
- Confirm the procedureIdentify the target system, permitted pressure or threshold, access point, valve states and openings to seal.
- Prepare the machineInspect the power lead, air connection, hose and adapters, and fill only the smoke oil specified in the manual.
- Connect and isolateMake a leak-free connection with the correct adapter and close normal escape paths per the vehicle procedure.
- Run the pressure-hold testWatch live pressure, the countdown and the result on the touchscreen.
- Trace with smokeSwitch to Smoke mode, let the volume fill and inspect for escaping smoke.
- Repair and retestFix the confirmed leak and repeat the same test.

Good to Know
Caution
- The machine’s pressure rating is not a safe setting for every system; use the OEM procedure and the lowest appropriate pressure.
- Use only the approved smoke machine fluid; never water, viscous or corrosive liquids.
- Work away from flames and heat with eye and hand protection, and do not direct smoke at precision electronics.
- Do not operate with damaged power leads, hoses or adapters, and clean an opening before inserting an inflatable plug.
Care
- Drain the moisture collected by the oil-water separator.
FAQ
Can I use the maximum pressure on an EVAP system?
Do not assume so. Choose pressure from the vehicle procedure; machine capacity and EVAP-safe pressure are different things.
What if no smoke is visible?
Verify smoke delivery, access, isolation, adapter sealing and valve state, then continue with functional diagnosis; blockages, intermittent or non-leak faults may not show smoke.
Are all pictured accessories included?
The accessory set varies by regional version. Confirm the power lead, air connector, smoke hose, adapters, sealing plugs, oil bottle and quantities before checkout.
